Cincinnati's football team had already left the confines of Clifton for its game Saturday night at SMU. But the Bearcats got some good news from back home.

On Friday afternoon, Middletown (OH) three-star linebacker Cameron Junior announced he planned to stay close to home. He made his commitment to play for Cincinnati. The campus and Higher Ground are roughly 40 minutes away.

In July, Junior told BearcatReport.com he had a top three of Cincinnati, West Virginia and Pittsburgh. He also revealed then, his affection for the Bearcats.

“I love all the coaches, especially Coach (Marcus) Freeman and Coach (Luke) Fickell,” he said. “All the players in my class and in 2020 want me to come, want me to lead them, be by their side, like Leroy Bowers, Dante Corleone and Deshawn Pace. They want me to be part of the team. They want me to be family. I love Cincinnati. All the coaches, they just show a lot of love.”

Freeman was the primary recruiter for Junior. And Junior also has a family connection, as his brother, EJ Junior, played briefly under former Cincinnati coach Butch Jones, then transferred to Tennessee State.
