The Bearcats offense put on a clinic Saturday night in Lubbock as they put up a total of 555 total yards of offense in their 44-41 loss to Texas Tech.

Now, for many who did their research coming into this game, many knew it was more than likely going to result in a shootout as both offenses entered Saturday ranked among the top three within the Big 12 conference.

Worth noting, the Bearcats put up those kinds of numbers without wide receivers Tyrin Smith, Aaron Turner, Corey Kiner, and Evan Pryor, as Turner and Smith didn't even suit up. Meanwhile, Kiner and Pryor both left the game with injuries which resulted in Cincinnati to quickly see their depth get tested early.

Check out our offensive players of the game below.

Xzavier Henderson, wide receiver- It is safe to say that the senior wide receiver has developed a great relationship with quarterback Brendan Sorsby after another electric showing on Saturday night. Henderson led all receivers with a game high seven receptions going for 127 yards and a touchdown. The big moment from Henderson came late in the first quarter after Sorsby connected with Henderson across the middle for a short game, but Henderson quickly used his speed to take off and outrace multiple Red Raider defenders to the end zone for a 42-yard score.

Manny Covey, running back- The redshirt freshman stepped in and played a huge role for the Bearcats on Saturday night. In his first game of his career where he saw significant action, Covey came in and played an immediate impact especially in the fourth quarter. Worth noting, Covey is fourth on the Bearcat depth chart behind Corey Kiner, Evan Pryor and Chance Williams. However, Kiner went down with an injury early in the first quarter, and then Pryor was knocked out late in the third quarter with a hamstring injury. Covey came off the bench and provided a huge spark that the Bearcats desperately needed.

The speedy running back made a huge impact in a moment in which the Bearcats desperately needed something on offense following the pick-six from Sorsby that gave the Red Raiders a 44-27 lead with 12 minutes to go. The very first play of the ensuing drive, Sorsby dropped one off to Covey where he took it 71 yards and put his blazing track speed on display.

Covey then came in and scored the Bearcats next touchdown to cut the Red Raiders lead to three with just over four minutes to go after a 6-yard touchdown catch. Now, in just one quarter of play essentially, it's worth noting that Covey was second on the team in receiving as he finished with six catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Brendan Sorsby, quarterback- As we have been saying for weeks, Cincinnati has found a true star in the making with quarterback Brendan Sorsby. The Texas native was dialed in on Saturday night as he finished the game 31-45 for 425 yards and four touchdowns and continue to put his arm strength on display.

Sorsby also led the Bearcats in rushing with Kiner and Pryor both out with injury as he racked up 52 total yards on the ground. However, Sorsby made one mistake, and it was the interception early in the fourth quarter, which was his first turnover of the season. Worth noting, that Sorsby had thrown 149 passes over the first four games before his first turnover came. However, despite that being a game changing play for the Red Raiders, Sorsby, bounced back and was determined to lead the Bearcats down the field and put them in position to go to overtime in the final 70 seconds of play.

Following his dynamic performance on Saturday night, Sorsby is now ranked fourth in the Big 12 in terms of passing, as he is completing nearly 66% of his passes behind Alan Bowman (Oklahoma State), Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) and Josh Hoover (TCU). Sorsby also has Cincinnati in the top five among Big 12 programs in terms of passing yards per game with just over 300 yards per game.

Safe to say that Cincinnati has found their guy at the quarterback position and the potential for Sorsby continues to flash following each week. Which is a great sign for Scott Satterfield and the Bearcats, especially with Sorsby set to still have to years of eligibility remaining following the season.
