Rivals 250 DE Vann commits to UC

Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell has made a point to especially recruit the top players in southwest Ohio. He's gotten a few, but he's now snagged his biggest get yet.

Fairfield (OH) four-star defensive end Malik Vann announced Tuesday afternoon via Twitter that he's on board with the Bearcats.

Vann actually committed Friday, at Cincinnati's spring game. But he wanted to wait until today to make his decision.

"I thought it was just time to announce it," Vann told BearcatReport.com. "The main thing is having the chance to stay home and rebuild a program that has been down for a few years and doing it with people I’m around all the time.

Vann, No. 231 in the Rivals250, chose the Bearcats out of a top six that also consisted of Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Michigan State. Vann said it came down to Cincinnati and the Spartans before he made his decision.

Vann is the second Rivals250 member to commit in the last two recruiting classes. R.J. Potts signed with the Bearcats in February.
