Fickell will be officially named Head Coach later today, according to several BearcatReport sources and confirmed by ESPN and several other media outlets.

Fickell will be the 40th coach of the Bearcats, and will need to make a solid first impression on the recruiting trail, as eight recruits are currently on campus on Official Visits. Fickell is known among the business as a very good recruiter.

An announcement is expected at some point this weekend, and now all eyes in the AAC will shift to Temple and South Florida, as two of the four openings at this critical time for the Conference after losing Matt Rhule to Baylor, Tom Herman to Texas, Willie Taggart to Oregon as well as Tuberville.

Fickell has one season of HC experience, finishing 6-7 in one season at Ohio State. Fickell has been with the Buckeyes since 2002, when he was brought on as the Special Teams coach.

Fickell won the AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year award in 2010.

Now, the question is does Fickell stay until after the CFP? Does he Bring Coombs with him? What coaches stay?

Stay tuned to BearcatReport for the latest.
