The life-altering decision occurred within hours of his 18th birthday. Born January 29th Benton has grown into quite a talented football player.
Though he confirmed his flip to UC football DaShawn Benton declined numerous interview requests for this story.
Benton was a fantastic receiver for Grady High School, rountinely attacking the high point. The Bearcat roster did recently feature a few receivers who began as college corners (Bruce Horner, Marcus Barnett).
Almost all defensive backs boast a few receptions in their past. Regardless Benton will get his start on defense.
New avenue
Mykel Traylor-Bennett has verbally committed to Akron.
Previously a verbal commitment for the UC Bearcats, the two-star receiver backed away following the coaching change.
"They reached out to me," said Traylor-Bennett. "I wasn't feeling it no more after Coach (Butch) Jones left."
Traylor-Bennett was initially deemed an attractive big-bodied receiver to add to the roster.
By advancing out into the cold mere months before National Signing Day, MTB knew it would be difficult to find his dream school.
"I knew I would find something," said Traylor-Bennett. "I didn't know exactly who. It was a little rough. I am just glad I found a place I want to be."
No hard feelings towards University of Cincinnati from former commit Mykel Traylor-Bennett.
