Bearcats land Ohio 3-star DE

Coach Luke Fickell has been trying to build a border around Ohio and he picked up another key piece of his 2018 class on Tuesday in three-star defensive end Daeshon Martin from Hoban HS in Akron. Martin is the 15th commit for the 2018 class and his commitment keeps the Bearcats in the top 50 in the Rivals Rankings for this class.

"UC is a different type of program," Martin told BearcatReport.com. "And to be completely honest, it's what I'm used to with coming from Hoban. Having a brand new coach come in and change the culture for the better. And not being afraid to do something new is a great feeling."

Martin also said that the culture instilled by Fickell also appealed to him. He said he liked hearing that Fickell would take care of his players.

"I like that this staff is seeking to be the greatest in a brand new way compared to what's been normal there," Martin said. "The coaching staff definitely is a huge reason for my decision. Having a great relationship with the coaches means a great four years."
