BIG EAST CONFERENCE FOOTBALL WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

BIG EAST OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Andre Davis • So. • WR • USF • Tampa, Fla.

Davis set school records with 12 receptions and 191 receiving yards and delivered two long touchdown catches to help USF to a 32-31, come-from-behind win at Nevada. His 56-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown with 38 seconds left in the fourth quarter gave USF its only lead of the game, capping a comeback from an 11-point deficit with less than three minutes remaining. Davis also had a 51-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. Davis' 191 receiving yards are the third-most by an FBS player in the young season.

BIG EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Walter Stewart • Sr. • DE • Cincinnati • Ashville, Ohio

Stewart led a Bearcat defense that kept Pittsburgh out of the end zone until 34 seconds remained in regulation, helping Cincinnati to a 34-10 win against the Panthers in the BIG EAST opener for both teams. Stewart had nine tackles to go with 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble that led to a Bearcat touchdown as Cincinnati picked up its fourth straight win, dating to last season.

BIG EAST SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brandon Jones • Sr. • CB • Rutgers • Sicklerville, N.J.

Jones came up with his second touchdown of the young season in Rutgers' 26-0 win against Howard as he scored on a 6-yard blocked punt return in the second quarter to put the Scarlet Knights ahead 13-0. It was Rutgers' third blocked kick of the 2012 season and it came one week after Jones' interception return for a touchdown in the season-opening win at Tulane.
