Basketball signee has big senior season
Crowley, Texas, North Crowley shooting guard Kelvin Lewis was Auburn's most heralded basketball signee in the early signing period. Rated a four-star by Rivals.com, the 6-foot-4, 175-pounder was coming off a strong junior season when he picked the Tigers over a number of high D-I offers, including Virginia.
By getting recruiting over with last November, Lewis was able to concentrate totally on his senior season and the move paid off as he improved in almost every area earning MVP honors in District 4 5-A and being named first-team All-State.
"Kelvin had a great year. I'm real proud of him," said North Crowley head coach Tommy Brakel. "We knew he could get it in the goal but we wanted to see him shoot at a higher percentage and work on his shot selection. I think Kelvin did a really nice job doing that."
