Miami LB talks SU offer
Coral Reef High School in Miami, Florida is home to many top football prospects. One of those prospects is holding a Syracuse offer and that player is outside linebacker Corey Griffin.
Griffin, 6-foot-2, 210 pounds has had many offers, but it was not until recently that the Orange came in.
"My dad talks with the coaches because I have not been able to talk to them yet. My Dad tells me that Coach Shafer seems like a real well rounded person. I received the letter about two weeks ago," Griffin said.
The Orange offer might have been his most recent, but as of right now it is really sticking out for the three star prospect.
"Syracuse is on my list right now. First of all I like their academics and second of all I like the communications program that they have. My dad has been in contact with Coach Shafer and they are talking about a visit," Griffin added. "Syracuse is the first visit I will take."
At this time he does not know much about what defense Syracuse plays, he does however know that he is not the only Miami kid heading to Syracuse.
"I am not sure about their defense up there. What I do know is that they have a lot of recruits out of Miami."
Even though he does not know much about the defense he does know if he were to pick the Orange he would be an outside linebacker.
"Coach Shafer told my Dad that he came down and saw my spring game," Griffin stated. "They want me to play outside linebacker because I am very aggressive, a great pass rusher, and a lot more with my speed."
Outside of the Orange a few other teams are getting looks from the Sunshine State product.
"I am looking at Syracuse, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Ball State, Western Michigan, and Florida Atlantic."
A decision is not expected soon, but he also does not plan on waiting long.
"I will probably decide sometime in the middle of the season, but that could change."
