Tuscaloosa WR waiting on offers
Keivondre Watford was poised for a big junior campaign along with quarterback Broderick Hall at Central High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
But when Hall decided to transfer to Bryant before the start of the season it forced Watford to move from receiver to under center to replace him. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder led the Falcons to victory in the opener but dropped eight straight to end the year.
"Last year our quarterback left and went to Bryant so I had to play a lot of quarterback," Watford said. "I really didn't have any film at receiver. He left before the season started so I had to play every game at quarterback except for one when we played Brookwood."
Since the versatile Watford was out of position for most of his junior campaign, offers have been hard to come by. But plenty of schools have expressed interest in his services. Ole Miss, Shorter College, Arkansas, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, Troy, Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Illinois, William Penn, Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee have all been in contact.
"There hasn't been any offers but I've been going to camps," Watford said. "I haven't been able to go to those camps that are out of town because our old coach used to take us to those. Now he's the head coach at Greensboro High School and now we don't have anybody to take us to camps. There has been papers coming about going to camps but I haven't been able to make it."
Watford did make the trip across town recently for the BadgerSports Elite 7-on-7 Passing Camp and was named the 12th best prospect at the event by Rivals recruiting analyst Barton Simmons.
