Florida back adds Wisconsin offer

Tre Mason may very well be the best back in South Florida that nobody is talking about. As a junior, the Boynton Beach (Fla.) Park Vista back rushed for just under 1,500 yards and over 25 touchdowns. He has yet to pick up the interest from the in-state heavyweights but someone has clearly noticed. Recently he picked up his fourth scholarship offer.

Already with offers from Florida International, Duke and Maryland, Mason added Wisconsin to his tally last week.

"First I got told by my coach and then I received the offer in the mail," Mason said. "I was pretty excited because I never thought that they were going to offer me because they were so far out there. I didn't even know they recruited Palm Beach."

In Mason's case, Wisconsin benefits from a noticeable Bowl victory and an even more noticeable Bowl victim. However, that win isn't the most impressive thing to Mason about the Badger program.

"I liked their performance when they played Miami in that bowl game so that also got me looking at them," he said. "The academics stick out the most. I heard they're a pretty good academic school so that's what really I notice about them."

Mason is hearing from a host of programs. Included amongst them are Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Louisville, Florida, Ohio State, Syracuse, Georgia, Tennessee, Nebraska and others. Mason doesn't have his eye on any school in particular though.

"I'm not really picking out any college or anything," he said. "I'm pretty much open. I know I'm going to have to be there for a couple of years, so whatever suits me best, I'll just commit there."

Mason's offseason will consists of a few camps and visits. He hopes to visit and camp at Miami as well as Florida. He also has plans to get to Ohio State, Georgia and UCF. Even if he doesn't get to camps, Mason's play speaks for itself on Friday nights.

What is his best quality on the field?

"My vision," he said. "My vision and my speed and my cuts. I can see everything pretty much. I try to see things before they happen."
