The lady Justin Jackson landed on in the 2nd row is injured.

Bearcats on 7-0 run. Up 13-6 with 14:55 to play first half.
Returning to the diving save...
Justin Jackson dove into the crowd to recover a loose ball. He landed right on this lady's lap. I believe hithe feet hit her thighs. A medic has been called, but for now it is mostly consultation.
Thankfully she will remain for the rest of the game to watch. I also saw Justin accidentally hit her in the face as he stood up. He was attempting to fling his body back into play, but definitely hit her with his flailing right hand.
UC leads 15-11 on Yancy rebound slam.

Cincinnati slid back into a 2-3 zone just before the TV timeout. I think they should keep the man-to-man pressure on. Providence has three players who average 38.0+ mpg in Big East play (Henton, Council, Cotton). Use your bench tonight. Depth could bury this opponent.
UC leads 15-11 with 13:08 to play.

Providence gets a turnover on Yancy Gates pass. It wasn't terrible, just ill-timed. UC wants to attack PC 2-3 zone with man in middle flashing/passing.
UC leads 17-13 with 11:51 to play.

After we return from TV timeout UC will insert Cheikh Mbodj. Realizing Cheikh is not scoring AT ALL lately I wondered internally...Does he have more blocks than points lately?
Yes. Yes he does. Cheikh has 9 blocks the last fives games. Over that time he has 7 points.
These are other statistical categories Cheikh piled up more numbers than the point column:
Defensive Rebounds, Personal Fouls.

The Bearcat guards are being exceptionally unselfish tonight. While pushing the ball Dion and Cash are both looking to kick out. I love to see penetrating guards setting up open teammates.
High percentage shots all around.
UC leads 22-13 with 9:00 to play.

This PC zone STINKS. A patient UC team will crush these dudes. Yancy Gates dunnk puts UC up nine points.
Posted on 2/15 9:27 PM | IP: 188.8.131.52
Yancy Gates has 7 points. He is on pace for 20 points. Remember the last time Yancy had 20?
No, you don't. Haha
It was March 9th, 2011. Yancy had 25 glorious points against South Florida. He has scored 20 points just 6 times in his UC career. I found that surprising.
UC leads 26-17 with 7:04 to play.

LaDontae Henton buries another bucket. He now has a dozen points. Henton is a slick-shooting lefty from Michigan. I got to watch him a lot this summeron recruiting trail. He has improved from the promising player he already was.
UC leads 27-20.

Sean Kilpatrick hits another triple. The Bearcats are opening this game up.
UC leads 32-20 with 4:56 left (1st half).

I mentioned I would be talking recruiting a little bit. UC has been making a push for local junior Kevin Johnson lately. It is not new interest as KJ picked up an offer in July '11.
Johnson plays AAU for Ohio Basketball Club (OBC) and high school at Summit Country Day. Johnson is a 6'2 guard with good length, great vision, and excellent tempo.
He is fast, but never out of control. I like how hard he rebounds too. Johnson regularly pulled down 5+ rebounds on the AAU scene. His competition level was much higher there.
With Summit Country Day KJ plays with another lead guard (2014 PG Antonio Woods Jr.). He is also a noteworthy talent. Check out Johnson if you can. He is the number one local target for UC in the junior class.
Johnson's best offers are Illinois, Xavier, Cincinnati, Seton Hall, and Wisconsin.
UC leads 43-25 in the opening seconds. Cashmere Wright trying out a new over the head pass.
YUCK!! Yancy Gates just dunked a ball and a human. That was nasty.

Cash tried to find Dion Dixon for an alley-oop. It was swatted free. It has become clear UC guards (Cash/Dion) want to bring something extra special. They have noticed this game is ripe for flashy plays.
UC leads 48-27 with 16:55 remaining.

First TV timeout and anyone previously curious about the outcome ceases to be.
UC leads 49-27. Blowout will continue. The cats are bringing Jax in after the break.

Yancy Gates at the free throw line, attempting to chase a season high of 18 points. He now has 14 points with 14:50 left.
UC leads 52-30.

Cash and Dion need to be pulled. The two guards are playing with huge egos right now. It truthfully looks like they think they are Harlem Globetrotters.
It is fine to enjoy pounding a team, but don't stuff it in their face.
UC leads 54-37.

UC now running with Jeremiah Davis, Dion Dixon, Jermaine Sanders, Sean Kilpatrick, and Cheikh Mbodj. Cash to return after TV timeout.
Bearcats lead 56-41 with 11:55 left.

After a few mishandled offensive possessions and lazy defense Providence is creeping back into the game. UC leads 56-45 but this game feels like Presbyterian, Jacksonville State, and other games where the Cats got a lead too early.
For some reason this team loses composure after they bury a team. They play like they downtrodden team will melt away.

After missing two shorties, Sean Kilpatrick stole another outlet pass. I count three of those for SK. Cash followed up with a slippery layup.
UC shooting 46% from the field.
UC leads 60-48 with 9:00 to play.

I got Yancy for four dunks. It might be five. He is having his best offensive game in 2012.
UC leads 62-50.

While Yancy Gates chases his season-high one player already hit it. Vincent Council of Providence is up to 28 points, one shy of a career high. The guard continues to fight despite the deficit.
UC leads 64-50 with 7:04 remaining.

A final recruiting note before we wrap this game... UC is recruiting a local LB for the Class of 2013. From Loveland, Ohio Zach Higginbotham enjoys the hometown school. The Bearcat Coaching Staff let Higginbotham know that they are recruiting him as a FB though.
"They are recruiting me as fullback and saying they will put in sets to use me," said Higginbotham. "They are backloaded at linebacker and would just use me at fullback."
Higginbotham has been to Purdue, Louisville, Northwestern, Toledo, and Cincinnati. He might attend UC Junior Day Saturday.
Don't forget UC will host their largest Junior Day Saturday. I am compiling a list of attendees on the premium board. After the game I will have all names.
Uc leads 66-59 with 3:50 and the natives are restless. A lot of groans. A lot of moans.

We hit the final TV timeout with a seven point disparity.
UC will play with Cash, Dion, Cheikh Mbodj, Sean Kilpatrick, and JaQuon Parker.
Providence has Cotton, Coleman, Henton, Giplaye, and Council on the floor.
Posted on 2/15 10:46 PM | IP: 18.104.22.168
Cincinnati has lost all offensive flow. It is mind-boggling how this happens.
Posted on 2/15 10:48 PM | IP: 22.214.171.124
Thanks to late-game energy of JaQuon Parker Cincinnati will hold on to the win they earned long ago.
It almost faded away, but Parker hauled down some nice defensive rebounds late. He also caught a Kilpatrick air ball. Then put it back in. Oh, and Park hit two free throws in final minutes.
UC leads 72-61 with 1:30 left.

13-1 Syracuse 10-3 Marquette 10-3 Notre Dame 9-4 Georgetown 9-4 South Florida 8-5 Cincinnati 8-5 Louisville 7-7 Seton Hall
Posted on 2/15 10:57 PM | IP: 188.8.131.52
Five games left in the regular season. Cincinnati will play three TOP HALF teams, One MID PACK, and one BOTTOM THIRD.
I think their toughest test will be Marquette, but frankly all five could be losses OR all five could be wins. Villanova is not a walk-over for Cincinnati as we saw earlier. South Florida has shocked me with nine conference wins. That game could challenge UC.
Marquette is a rematch that UC wants badly. I don't think they will capture the win though. The Cats also have Seton Hall/Louisville within the next week. At home.
