Twice a guest at Nippert Stadium this fall Troy High School offensive lineman Alex Dalton fanned out his guest appearances recently.

"Two weeks ago I went up to Michigan," said Dalton. "Michigan is crazy, growing up in Ohio, it seems weird to say this, but I absolutely loved the stadium. Just like UC the fans are great. At UC the fans are crazy as anywhere else."

Cincinnati crushed both their opponents as Dalton attended. Michigan blasted Illinois 45-0 with Alex in the stands. Dalton was fortunate enough to attend both Cincinnati and Michigan Homecoming games.

"This past Saturday I went to West Virginia," said Alex Dalton. "I spent the weekend there."

To be clear it was not an official visit, Dalton's family merely stayed off campus around the game.

"I think the atmosphere was great," said Dalton. "I like how the stadium sits right in the city. The stadium is great. I like walking onto the field. The mountains are great. It is beautiful, campus is great. I like the whole atmosphere."

Dalton's travel dossier includes several more Midwestern colleges.

"I plan on attending game at IU, Toledo," said Dalton. "Michigan State is recruiting me pretty hard, Duke pretty hard. Penn State."

The college football regular season has a little over a month left making his subtle destination decisions quite telling.

Dalton cites academics, campus, and football tradition as his key motivators in selecting a college home. To Alex it is very important how much the town surrounding the school cares about their football team.

Troy season

Troy High has a dissapointing 4-5 regular season record, but Dalton asserts the numbers are misleading.

"It sounds worse than what it really is," said Dalton. "Four of the games have been touchdown in the last minute. You can't really look at the record to define us as a team."

His work on the line has been solid. He tends to play offensive tackle and occassionaly defensive end.

"Mostly right now I will be putting film as offensive right tackle because that is what I will play all year," said Dalton. "When I evaluate my own film I will see how I looked at DE. Right now teams are more interested in full games."

Cincinnati is certainly one of those teams.
