August 7, 2012Throughout July Junior Etou destroyed bigger men and embarked upon a remarkable upward trajectory.
Recruiters took note and numerous high major offers flooded into Bishop O'Connell High School.
Etou moved to the United States of America just a few years back. Though he began his high school career with Arlington Country Day (Justin Jackson's school) he discovered a more enjoyable Arlington...the boomtown Arlington, Virginia.
Now Etou competes for Bishop O'Connell Head Coach Joe Wootten and D.C. Assault AAU outfit.
Capable of playing either forward position Etou batted away countless shots in July. D.C. Assault used him as a roadblock down low, even though Junior can shoot like a guard.
His AAU coach cites a lingering injury for relegating Etou to the paint all summer. The move might have limited his short term potential because few observers witnessed the pleasant shooting release of Junior.
There a few teams of high interest though.
"He has offers from Memphis, B.C. and Washington," said Coach Wootten. "They call the most. Maryland interest, Cincinnati, and Xavier."
The head coaches of several of these schools called just this week.
"Coach (Chris) Mack just called me," revealed Coach Wootten. "Those are the teams that are reaching out to me right now."
Despite the high levels of interest around the northeast Junior Etou will probably wait to decide until spring.
"He is not taking any visits yet," said Bishop O'Connell Head Coach Joe Wootten. "I think he is going to work out here. He is going to keep things rolling."
