Bulldogs land first 2011 commitment
Mississippi State sent out several scholarships to some of the top prospects in the class of 2010 on Sept. 1.
That offer was all Harrison Central offensive tackle Nick Redmond needed. The massive 6-foot-6, 305-pounder jumped at the chance to become a Bulldog only weeks after receiving his scholarship.
"It's the school that I've always wanted to go to ever since I was a kid," Redmond said. "It's an SEC college that offered me a full scholarship so I figured why not?"
Redmond gave his pledge to MSU offensive coordinator Les Koenning last week and kept things quiet before going public with his commitment while attending the Bulldogs game today against LSU.
"I did it sometime last week," Redmond said. "I committed before I went up there but I didn't tell anybody, just the coaches."
Surprisingly, Redmond made his college choice without even meeting the head coach. He met Dan Mullen for the first time on Saturday.
