New Gamecock talks pledge
Lagrange (GA) Troup DB Cadarious Sanders got the offer he was waiting on after leaving the Showcase camp on Saturday and jumped on it, becoming the fifteenth member of the Gamecock recruiting class.
Sanders confirmed his commitment to GamecockCentral.com.
"I just talked to the coaches today and went ahead and committed," he said. "I feel at home at SC".
The big cornerback impressed South Carolina's coaching staff on film and in workouts on Saturday, and the Georgia product hopes the Gamecocks can help him take his considerable skills to the next level.
"South Carolina puts DBs in the league every year," he said. "They're (the coaches) all cool people and great coaches that are extremely excited about football. They will take care of me on and off the field."
One Georgia native that recently wore the Garnet and Black is Carlos Thomas, and he was among the multiple NFL players in attendance.
"He told me to go full speed and not hold anything back."
Sanders talked about his performance at camp.
"I played pretty well today," he said. "I finished all my drills, didn't drop any balls, and locked down a couple of receivers today."
Sanders was a great find by Eric Wolford, joining Carolina's other cornerback commit Brison Williams in the vein of a lesser recruited player with great skills.
"Brison really stood out today and was making plays," said Sanders.
Sanders' skill set will be a welcome addition at USC.
"I'm real good at jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage," he said. "Another strength is helping out against the run, I really like to come up and make the big hit."
Sanders is recruited by Eric Wolford and was scouted at the Showcase by defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward.
