Indiana prospect picks up offer from Black Knights
The Black Knights continue to knock on the doors of quality safety prospects. Last week, Sean McBryde gave his pledge to become a Black Knight and this week, 3-star safety/linebacker Chris Santini made it clear that he remains very interested in Army.
Now you can add Vince Hunsicker to the list of safety prospects that have pulled in an offer from the Army staff.
The 6-foot-3, 200 pounder from Lafayette (IN) Mccutcheon High School was offered last night during his phone conversation with fullback coach, Joe Ross.
"Yesterday afternoon, Coach Ross called me and ask me how my summer has been going
. and where I had camped," shares Hunsicker. "I told him
I also told him where I had offers from and he said you can now add us to that list."
So what was Hunsicker's response to pulling in his third college scholarship offer?
"I told him that was awesome," he adds. "They are one of respectable school in the nation, possibly the most respectable school in the nation. Just a great honor to have West Point offer me."
Hunsicker, who has camped throughout the midwest and Northeast, made it clear that he plans on taking an official visit to the West Point campus this fall.
This summer he camped at Cincinnati, Purdue, Toledo, Brown, Yale, Wake Forest and Holy Cross.
The hard-hitting safety has offers from Cincinnati and Holy Cross, the latter he received the last week of June. But for the Black Knights, Hunsicker has been on their radar for several months now.
"The first time I spoke to Coach Ross was at the end of May while I was still in school," says Hunsicker, who is being marked for several positions at the next level.
"I am hearing linebacker and wide receiver from college coaches, but my primary position in high school is safety."
So where does he see himself on the field at the next level? "Wherever I can see the field the most
I will play either side of the ball or position."
For Hunsicker, he wears the badge of student-athlete in the manner the some prospects wear the NFL is my destination. "My GPA is a 3.6 and for my whole high school career I have taken all honors classes
the hardest classes that I can take at my high school, I have taken," shares the future Biological scientist major.
He also plays the three position on Mccutcheon's basketball team and has grown found of the idea of playing on the East Coast. "I really enjoy the East Coast, especially the Northeast and when you go up there, basically all those schools are top tier academically and you can't beat those schools like West Point, Holy Cross and others academically," states Hunsicker, who has Army as one of the top schools on his list of possible colleges.
"Definitely," declares Hunsicker, when asked about his level of interest in the Black Knights. "Army is one of the better program on the rise and will be one the better programs in the nation. They play one on the hardest schedules and some of the best teams around and I could see myself there."
For those who have not seen Indiana native in action, he offered up this brief assessment. "I am a shut down guy and hard hitter
. I loved Bob Sanders when he was healthy and he was right in my backyard," shares Hunsicker, when referring to the former Indianapolis Colts safety.
GoBlackKnights.com will continue to follow Hunsicker's recruiting as he heads into his senior football season.
