Maryland picks up south Florida safety
Just a week before the start of fall practice, Miami (Fla.) Felix Varela safety Undray Clark put a big decision behind him and pulled the trigger on his college commitment. The versatile has decided to head to the ACC to play his college football.
"I committed to Maryland," Clark said on Wednesday. "I committed last week and they accepted it today. The location of the school helped out with it and the location too."
Clark also had offers from Duke and Minnesota and was very close to adding an offer from Wake Forest to his list but Clark wasn't willing to wait any longer and ended the process.
"My opportunities were closing so I had to choose quick," he said. "I'm excited and I'm ready to play now."
A visit to Maryland a couple of weeks ago proved decisive for the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder. While on campus he felt right at home.
"I liked the school itself," he said. "It was good and the team felt like home."
While Clark plays a lot of roles for his high school, he will be a safety in Maryland and he expects to bring savvy instincts to the position in College Park.
"I'm a smart player," he said. "And playing offense too, I can know what's coming."
Clark was scheduled to visit Minnesota in September but likely will now limit his official visit schedule to just Maryland.
