Griffin's big numbers gaining early attention
McKinney (TX) Boyd quarterback Jonovan Griffin caught the attention of just about everyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex a few weeks ago when he helped the Broncos register a 78-51 win over rival McKinney High. In that game, the athletic junior accounted for eight touchdowns and 633 yards total offense, averaging an amazing 20 yards per play every time he touched the ball.
However, he has not been much less productive during the remainder of the season. Boyd has scored less than 27 points only once this season and Griffin himself has rolled up 976 yards rushing - averaging 7.6 yards per carry - and 1,735 yards passing - completing 114 of 172 attempts - through seven games. Griffin himself has thrown for 10 touchdowns and added 10 more on the ground.
